Terrified to give birth again VBAC?
I'm about to be 16 weeks and due in November.
I have a 17 month old who was delivered via emergency c-section.
I'm currently a single mom and being I had such a horriable c-section expirence the 1st time,was in labour for 26hrs stopped at 6cm and got an infection so they said they had to get the baby out.
it was so bad I was bed ridden for 3 months and none of the pain killers worked I got PPD and so forth and the pain was unbelievable.
This time around i'd really like to try natural birth or VBAC,but i'm so afraid of having to get cut open again and having to deal with a toddler and newborn without any family or friends to help me while I heal from surgery.
I keep reading how the 2nd birth is gonna be like the 1st and i'm just really scared of something going wrong if I have another c-section.
Has anyone else been through this and it turned out the way you wanted?
There is no reason why u cannot have a normal birth after having one c/section, its is only risky when u have 2 c/s but hey lots of women have 1 c/s and then go on to have numerous normal vaginal deliveries, and besides most childbearing women are young and very healthy, so be open minded and inform ur midwife./obstetrician that u really do not want an elective c/s and want a trial of labour this time, it is ur body after all and u are the one to recovery from c/s not the docs, u will be monitiored in a high risk unit with obstetric safety net and midwives so u will be cared for very well, and they are very well eqiped to be aware of any problems, but theyre shouldnt be any and besides u have been in labour b4 so this essentially is ur second labour, u got to 6cm which is fab, u nearly went the whole way, so therefore this time shouldnt be as long as the first time, maybe try yoga, drink strawberry tea from 37 weeks gestation, it appartently softens the cervix, they may induce u early if u had c/s before, like38weeks. hope this helps good luck my dear and ENJOY, relax
