I just returned from my vacation conservation in South Africa, where I had the chance to spend a day at the Rehabilitation Center Moholoholo. Several people wonder how they will spend a typical day on their successful conservation project and while I can not stress enough that every day and every experience is completely different, here's how I spent mine:

7.00 - After a lazy morning I join other conservation volunteers who been in place for 6 hours for the service aviary. 7:00 ET time series and are divided into four distinct groups and given a choice of which animals we want to keep. I helped feed the storks who was wounded in the leg broken, he was quite at home appointed Storky and prepare breakfast Storky definitely not a job for the timid. I helped skin four chicks under her meal, and then it is not good he was not as bad as some volunteers from the conservation of rats that received skin.

I would handed the four little scratched on the palm of my hand, making sure it is very very flat, while Erin, the woman responsible for food Storky became very excited when he actually had chicks on my outstretched palm, for me, this was certainly one of the most memorable of my vacation wildlife conservation.

8.30 - It is time for our breakfast and while, fortunately for our conservation holidays, we are given better food than Storky. Breakfast served at the Safari Lodge is particularly tasty.

10.00 - It is now time for our daily tasks. I clean the yellow-billed kite cage, with the remainder of voluntary conservation. The cage is very dirty birds were not disturbed in time. However, they had recently been transferred to the clinic so they can be treated by the resident veterinarian, Brian. Me and some volunteers from the conservation of other birds are covered in water pooey during this task. It smells horrible, but fortunately I the time to clean it before my trip daily.

11.00 - In my free time I go with the rest of the conservation volunteers of Blyde River Canyon for a Scenic boat tour. The site hosts the third deepest canyon in the world and is considered one of the most beautiful sights in Africa South.

3.30 - We return to Moholoholo time for our task conservation afternoon holiday, and I help change the water bowl of Cheetah and get everything clean. After what we watch Brian some trim claws of the kite and apply more powder feather mites.

4.30 - I walk the cubs Telo and the Duma with a ranger in the reserve surrounding Moholoholo. They become very large and I do not know how long the volunteers Conservation will be able to acquire with them! When we walk them, they try to drag our feet to hit us over and they are certainly loudly.

7.00 - I help take care of baby rhinos roam around student housing. They are certainly a bit of a handle, and after seeing them for an hour and a half, I need rest!

The rest of the evening is devoted to leisure, but after such an early morning the students and I are very happy to head to bed early. Some volunteers from the conservation have been here longer are "mothers" and learn to care for baby animals while they sleep. I'm awake in the middle of the night by Alex, when he proves that the hyrax baby she has watched had pooed in his bed!

As you my log entry that I had an incredible 24 hours on my holidays Wildlife and without two days, I can not wait to see what my plans for conservation tomorrow will bring.
